Apprenticeship Training Supports

 
 

Sources WorkBC Employment Services Centre provides apprenticeship training supports to apprentices attending a training institute in either the Cloverdale or South Surrey/White Rock communities.  

Apprenticeship financial supports are provided to EI eligible apprentices while participating in the classroom technical training components of apprenticeship training.

 

WorkBC Application for Apprenticeship Training Supports

Apprentices who meet Employment Insurance (EI) client eligibility requirements are eligible for financial supports through the program while participating in the classroom technical training components of their apprenticeship training.

Apprentice Job Match

Apprentice Job Match is a feature of the WorkBC Job Board that matches apprentices and employers. The Industry Training Authority (ITA) and WorkBC partnered to provide this feature.

WorkBC 16 Digit Reference Code

this code is given by workbc once you have applied for apprenticeship supports application 24 hours after you have applied.  service canada requires this code to complete your ei portion as it will then state you are on ei as an apprentice in training.

Industry Training Authority (ITA)

The Industry Training Authority (ITA) leads and coordinates BC’s skilled trades system, working with employers, apprentices, industry, labour, training providers and government to issue credentials, supports apprenticeships, fund programs, set program standards and increase opportunities in the trades. 

Service Canada Employment Insurance Benefits

Always apply for EI benefits as soon as you stop working. You can apply for benefits even if you have not yet received your Record of Employment (ROE). If you delay filing your claim for benefits for more than four weeks after your last day of work, you may lose benefits.

Canada Apprentice Loan

The Government of Canada offers apprentices registered in a Red Seal Trade apprenticeship program up to $4,000 per level of technical training.
